Cookies Policy
Last updated: October 22, 2026What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the website function properly, remember your preferences, and improve your experience. Some cookies are strictly necessary for the website to work and are exempt from consent requirements. Other cookies are optional and are used only if you give your consent.
Types of Cookies We Use
Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are required for the website to operate and for you to use the services you request (including saving your cookie choices).
Legal basis: Exempt from consent - strictly necessary for the service requested
| Cookie name | Provider | Domain | Duration | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| trustwardsCookie | Trustwards | .meterknot.com | 12 months | https://meterknot.com/wp-content/uploads/trustwards/consent/tw-consent-script.js |

These cookies help us understand how visitors use our website. They collect data using pseudonymous identifiers to generate aggregated statistics (for example, pages visited and interactions).
Legal basis: Requires user consent - blocked by default
| Cookie name | Provider | Domain | Duration | Source |

Third-Party Services and Data Recipients
Google Analytics (Google) provides website analytics services that help us measure and understand website usage and performance. When enabled, Google processes information collected through cookies and similar technologies in accordance with Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
We use our own consent management system (Trustwards) to record your cookie preferences. The "trustwardsCookie" stores which cookie categories you have accepted or rejected, ensuring your choices persist across visits. This cookie is strictly necessary for compliance with applicable privacy regulations and consent requirements. Your consent data is processed securely and is not shared with third parties unless legally required.
International Data Transfers
Some of our service providers are located outside EU/EEA:
- Google Analytics: Headquartered in the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (DPF).
We recommend reviewing each provider's privacy policy for detailed information about their data protection measures.
- Trustwards: Data is processed on our own infrastructure. No international transfer occurs unless explicitly stated.
Legal Basis for Processing
Strictly necessary cookies are exempt from the consent requirement because they are strictly necessary for the service you request (for example, saving your cookie choices) and cannot be disabled through our cookie settings. All other cookie categories (including analytics cookies) require your consent under the GDPR and the ePrivacy rules; they are blocked by default and are activated only after you give explicit consent.
Managing Your Cookie Preferences
We use a consent banner managed with Trustwards. Strictly necessary cookies are always on. Analytics cookies are set only after you accept them. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through Manage Consent at the foot of every page. When you withdraw consent, we stop setting the relevant cookies from that point onward.
How to Control Cookies in Your Browser
In addition to using our Manage Consent tool, you can control cookies through your browser settings:
- View cookies stored on your device and delete specific cookies or all cookies.
- Block all cookies or block only third-party cookies (cookies set by domains other than the website you are visiting).
- Set rules to allow cookies only for certain websites.
Browser menu paths:
- Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Third-party cookies (and Site settings).
- Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data.
- Safari (macOS): Safari > Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data.
- Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Cookies and site data.
If you block or delete cookies, some website features may not work correctly. Strictly necessary cookies are required for the site to function.
Similar Technologies
Local Storage is a browser feature that allows websites to store data persistently on your device. Unlike cookies, this data does not expire automatically and remains until manually cleared. We use Local Storage strictly for essential website functionality, such as remembering your preferences and settings to provide a consistent browsing experience. This usage is strictly necessary for the service you have requested and is therefore exempt from consent requirements under applicable law.
Session Storage is a browser feature that temporarily stores data only for the duration of your browser session. This data is automatically deleted when you close your browser tab or window. We use Session Storage strictly for essential functionality during your visit, such as maintaining your navigation state and form data. This usage is strictly necessary for the service you have requested and is therefore exempt from consent requirements under applicable law.
On Meterknot, Session Storage is cleared when you close the tab. The Scorecard keeps your answers while you take it so a reload does not lose them, and The System page remembers that its opening animation has played. Neither holds information that identifies you.
Cookie Retention Periods
We use persistent cookies with the following retention periods:
- 12 months (trustwardsCookie).
- 14 months (_ga and _ga_4CGG4TECXC).
We do not list any session cookies in the cookie tables above. Session Storage (described in the Similar Technologies section) is deleted when you close the tab.
Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by changing your cookie preferences (see Managing Your Cookie Preferences). You also have the right to access information about the cookies we use (provided in this policy) and to request deletion of cookie data. To exercise your rights, contact us at contact@meterknot.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for specific supervisory authority contact details.
Updates to This Policy
We review this policy periodically and update it when our cookie practices change. The Last updated date at the top indicates when changes were last made. For significant changes, we will notify you through the cookie banner and request new consent where required. Changes take effect from the date indicated at the top of this policy.
